Ethiopia's Tigray Protesters Demand Withdrawal of Foreign Forces

Thousands of Tigray protesters took to the streets Tuesday, May 23, 2023 demanding the withdrawal of foreign troops, specifically Eritrea, from the region. This comes months after the Ethiopia government and Tigray region signed a peace deal in South Africa in November 2022, following a 2-year war that began in November 2020, writes Esther Rose for AllAfrica.

The Tigrayan people are also demanding the return of people who fled the conflict, across borders to countries such as Sudan.
